Born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, I was in my first play at 8 years old. It was the South, so the play was an enthusiastically religious adaptation of A Christmas Carol and was performed at a church. I was hooked.

As a home-schooled kid, most of my time was not spent doing schoolwork but outside, developing a love for nature, the ability to entertain myself, and the desire make something from nothing.

My sophomore year of college, I had the opportunity to co-write three original songs for a play. I realized then that I no longer needed to deny the songwriter part of myself, I could proudly display the Dolly in me. Singing and songwriting needed to be part of my theatrical work. I have never been so happy as when I've been able to combine my passion for music with theatre.

My musical inspirations include Ms. Parton, Bob Dylan, Jeff Black, Brandi Carlile, Phoebe Bridgers, and Patti Smith. On the stage and screen, idols include Sally Field, Frances McDormand, Catherine O'Hara, Florence Pugh and Amy Adams.

I love to travel. Autobiographies, my 3/4 Yamaha, period dramas, cooking, and journaling fill my days.

My "Day job" in Chicago is serving as the Business Development Specialist at a real estate consulting firm.

FEATURED WORK:

IN QUIETNESS at A RED ORCHID THEATRE

Written by Anna Ouyang Moench
Directed by Ensemble Member dado
Featuring Artistic Director Kirsten Fitzgerald

Performance Dates: January 11-March 3, 2024

A former consultant follows her born-again husband to a Southern Baptist seminary. There, she enrolls as a student at the Homemaking House, the nation’s premier training ground for future homemakers and a place where marital bliss means never having to say thank you for cleaning the toilet.  In Quietness asks us all to consider how fidelity to self, family, community, and faith coexist as we work to manifest our futures.

Other praise for In Quietness:

"... Honest work by Chopson ..."

- Chicago Tribune

"In Alexandra Chopson's witty, energetic portrayal, Beth is the play's most interesting character -- scheming, angry and full of secrets."

- NewCity Stage
