TWO HALVES:
a narrated songbook
In February 2021, Chopson presented a piece of original solo theatre, a play-with-music, which was 6 months, 3 grants, and 2 project mentors in the making.
The show took place for two consecutive nights with limited live seating (following COVID-19 restrictions) at Minnetrista Convention Center in Muncie, Indiana.
The autobiographical coming-of-age story brought the poetry of Sylvia Plath together with the sounds of a Nashville evangelical megachurch and the fragility of a young female heart.
"[Alexandra's] stories and her songs are a constant and awkward collision of atoms and impulse; a deep and human landscape of want, of regret, of hope."
- Matthew Reeder, director
This excerpt from the play contains the original song Lady Lazarus, which takes many of its lyrics from the Sylvia Plath poem of the same title. Copyright Alexandra Chopson
